Our first film night was a sell out! More than 100 people showed up to watch and discuss Utøya along with our speakers (see pictures below). Thanks everyone. See you on 4 December for our second screening.
Great discussion following the screening of Disobedience. Thanks again to those who joined us. Watershed moved us to their biggest screen!
Another sell-out at our third instalment (Vice)! So good to see so many students from both UWE and UoB showing up and joining the conversation.
"For me, there were three themes. The first is that [the protagonist] does not exist (without papers/not recognised); the second is the concept of childhood and what you expect to be a normal childhood - once you define it, how do you then protect a child? And the third is migration” - Noëlle Quénivet commenting on Capernäum during our last film instalment.
“Lazzaro is never the protagonist of the story, he is always called by others - as if Lazzaro needs to be evoked, like an abstract figure” - Francesco Tava commenting on Happy as Lazzaro during our fifth installment.
We had a great end of season with High Life. Amazing speakers and, once again, a very good turnout. Thanks everybody for staying with us and coming up with so many great questions and comments.
