Starting in October 2018 with Utøya, UWE and Watershed are partnering on a series of screenings and discussions that brings together a multi-disciplinary team of philosophers, political theorists, cinema curators and producers to unpick some of the most exciting and challenging ideas in contemporary cinema.
Everyone is welcome! A limited number of free tickets are available for UWE students. Show up at the box office with your student card.

MEET THE TEAM
Francesco TavaDr. Francesco Tava is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at UWE Bristol. His main areas of research are in contemporary moral and political philosophy, with a special focus on the themes of freedom, political solidarity, and self-sacrifice. Besides philosophy, Francesco is keen on cinema and public engagement, which led him to co-found Thought in Action in October 2018.

Miguel PradoMiguel Prado is a UWE PhD student and Associate Lecturer of Philosophy, his research addresses the role of noise in information systems extended mind theory and biological evolution. He is part of the Thought in Action initiative as well as Social Science in the City. |
Suwita Hani RandhawaDr. Suwita Hani Randhawa is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of the West of England in Bristol, United Kingdom. She is an interdisciplinary International Relations/International Law scholar with specific expertise on the historical origins of international crimes, as well as the politics of International Criminal Law. She completed her doctorate (DPhil in International Relations) at the University of Oxford and holds a Masters degree from The Australian National University, as well as undergraduate degrees in Law and International Relations from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Emma BrännlundDr Emma Brännlund is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at UWE Bristol. Emma is the co-lead of the Global Security and Human Rights Research Theme (GSHR), a research cluster part of the larger Social Sciences Research Group (SSRG), that brings together a group of interdisciplinary researchers across the Department who are interested in contemporary issues concerning international peace and security, global development, global justice, global ethics, and human rights.

Georgia HarrisonGeorgia Harrison is a Level 2 Philosophy student at UWE Bristol. With a passion for writing and design, she is on placement with Thought in Action acting as Communications coordinator. Her main roles consist of creating and managing the website, alongside writing the blogs for the events.

Gergana DimitrovaGergana Dimitrova is a Level 2 Politics and International Relations student at UWE Bristol. As a placement student in Thought in Action she is interested in the way the disciplines of politics and philosophy are linked to the contemporary productions in cinema. Her main roles include managing our social media accounts and increasing our online presence in order to reach as many likeminded individuals as possible.
